AO PSYCHOLOGY / BOOKING & APPOINTMENTS

A simple first step.
Support at your pace.

AO Psychology welcomes general enquiries about online counselling and requests for a free 15-minute introductory phone call. A paid 30-minute clinical triage is $80; clinical appointment arrangements are confirmed separately after we check suitability and requirements. Face-to-face sessions are not available at this stage. Indicative telehealth hours (Melbourne time): Monday–Friday, 6:30 pm–10:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am–10:00 pm. Individual appointment availability may be more limited.

Free introductory calls can now be booked online through Google Calendar. You can also send a general enquiry. This 15-minute phone call is non-clinical; paid clinical appointments, intake and payments are arranged separately and are not available for direct public booking. Please do not include sensitive health details when booking.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Your path from enquiry to an appointment.

02

Confirm arrangements and consent

Before clinical care begins, we'll confirm the agreed time, fee and suitable telehealth arrangements. Required clinical intake and consent are handled separately from the public enquiry form; that clinical workflow is being finalised before appointments are accepted.

03

Meet for your first conversation

Triage is a chance to build rapport, explore what brought you here, discuss expectations and consider immediate safety or risk concerns. Children may begin alongside their parent or caregiver where appropriate.

04

Decide what happens next

There is no obligation to continue. If you choose further counselling, your counsellor will arrange the 90-minute initial assessment ($210) and any 60-minute ongoing sessions ($140) directly with you.

PREPARING FOR YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Know what to expect before you begin.

Before clinical appointments are accepted, we will finalise the separate intake and consent process. Our public enquiry form is available now for general questions only, not confidential health histories.

01 / SERVICE

Your service agreement

Understand what the counselling or screening service involves, who provides it, the limits of the service, appointment fees and cancellation arrangements. You can ask questions before agreeing.

02 / PRIVACY

Privacy and informed consent

Review how relevant information is collected, documented, stored and shared, along with the limits of confidentiality and your choices about participating.

03 / TELEHEALTH

Online session arrangements

Discuss privacy at your location, the secure video connection, a backup contact plan and what to do if technology fails or urgent help is needed.

04 / YOUNG PEOPLE

Family and age-appropriate consent

When the service is for a child or teenager, we discuss parent or caregiver involvement, the young person's voice, confidentiality and any necessary consent arrangements.

These are preparation details, not forms to complete here.

Secure intake, clinical consent and appointment reminders are not yet activated. Please do not enter clinical histories, reports or information about another person in a general enquiry.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The details, when you need them.

When will I receive confirmation and reminders?

We will confirm appointment details directly once a clinical appointment is appropriate and the separate intake and consent process is ready. Direct booking links and automated clinical reminders are not offered through this website yet.

How do payment and cancellations work?

Before paying, clients will be shown the total appointment price, current privacy notice, booking terms, cancellation conditions and any applicable refund arrangements. Clinical appointments are normally prepaid, with individually agreed exceptions possible for established clients. For private clinical appointments, at least 24 hours’ notice is needed to cancel or reschedule without a late-change fee. Cancelling or rescheduling with less than 24 hours' notice, missing an appointment or arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start is proposed to incur the full booked appointment fee (100%). A prepaid fee would be retained, not charged again. We will consider genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances and protect applicable consumer rights. These terms remain under legal fairness review, and NDIS funding pathways may have different requirements. Final terms will be disclosed before payment. Read the cancellation policy →

What information is needed before triage?

Before triage, we'll ask for your contact details, the main reason for attending, consent for telehealth and the location you'll be joining from. We may also need a backup phone number and safety contact details, depending on your circumstances. Detailed personal history and wellbeing questionnaires belong in the clinical assessment process. Never send sensitive clinical details through a general website enquiry.

What if I am booking for a child or young person?

We clarify caregiver involvement, consent, confidentiality, the young person’s wishes and age-appropriate telehealth suitability. For children aged 5–12, the first conversation generally begins with parent or caregiver and child together, then adapts to the young person. Read about support for young people →

Our clinical booking, secure forms, payments and automatic messages must be configured and privacy-tested before they become available. General enquiries are not for emergencies or urgent clinical assistance.
