PRIVATE COUNSELLING

Counselling fees

Choose an optional free introductory call, or enquire about a paid first clinical appointment. All fees below are in Australian dollars.

AppointmentDurationFee (AUD)
Introductory phone call Optional, non-clinical15 minutesFree
Clinical triage First clinical appointment, arranged after enquiry30 minutes$80
Initial assessment Practitioner-arranged after triage90 minutes$210
Ongoing counselling Practitioner-arranged60 minutes$140
Concession counselling Limited places; eligibility discussed individually60 minutes$110

The $80 clinical triage is a shorter first appointment to discuss your concerns, priorities and whether counselling is a suitable fit. If you choose to continue, the $210 initial assessment gives more time to understand your situation and agree on your goals. Ongoing sessions then focus on the work you decide to do together. The free introductory call is optional and non-clinical. Before any appointment, we confirm suitability, fees, consent and payment arrangements. Neither triage nor the initial assessment is a formal diagnostic assessment or commissioned report.

SCREENING & WRITTEN SERVICES

SCREENING & REVIEW PRICE GUIDE

Screening fees at a glance

Choose Standard Screening for reviewed results and a clear summary, or In-Depth Screening when you want a personalised written report and more detailed feedback. Both are non-diagnostic; the right option depends on the question you want to explore.

Screening or reviewStandardIn-Depth + written report

ADHD feedback consultation: A 30-minute discussion of the written report can be added to the $395 Adult ADHD In-Depth package for $80 AUD. The personalised report itself is included in $395; this consultation is optional and priced separately. Consultation arrangements for other services are confirmed individually.

Availability and suitability: Listed prices are for the proposed scope of each service, not a guarantee of immediate availability or a booking. Instruments, practitioner competency, permission for commercial or online use, secure delivery, and the exact inclusions must be confirmed first. Screening does not provide a diagnosis. Older-adult memory screening is a future offering, not currently available for booking. Its clinical arrangements and fee have not been confirmed; new or changing cognitive concerns should also be discussed with a GP.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about fees and access.

Do I need a referral to enquire?

You can usually contact us directly with a private enquiry. Some funding arrangements, professional reports or specialised services may require consent, a referral or proof of funding. We'll explain what's needed before arranging a service.

Why does written feedback cost more than standard screening?

Personalised written feedback involves additional professional review, interpretation, documentation and tailored recommendations beyond the standard screening results.

Can I request a report without becoming a regular therapy client?

You can enquire about a standalone report consultation. We first clarify the purpose, scope and suitability of the requested document.

Can I use NDIS funding for counselling?

Yes, where counselling is an eligible support in your self-managed or plan-managed plan and is suitable for your goals. We confirm support item, fees and arrangements first. AO Psychology is not an NDIS-registered provider.

What if I need to change an appointment?

Our proposed policy asks for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a clinical appointment. Late changes, non-attendance or arriving more than 15 minutes late are proposed to incur 100% of the booked session fee, subject to final agreed terms, fairness and exceptional circumstances. Please review the policy before confirming.

Will I know the total price before proceeding?

Yes. We aim to clarify the agreed service, current fee or quote, inclusions and any separately priced additions before you decide to proceed.

READY TO ASK A QUESTION?

Let's clarify the right service and next step.

Ask about therapy, screening, NDIS-funded counselling or a free introductory call. We'll explain the suitable next step and fee before you decide.
